BEFORE you schedule for the next AVAILABLE date, please read the following important information.
PARENT & CHILD DEDICATION:
We are excited that you are interested in dedicating your child to the Lord. We believe parenting can be one of the most rewarding, adventurous, and overhwleming times in one's life. And it is for this reason we applaud your decision to present your child before God, committing to seek His grace and wisdom in carrying out your responsibilities.
Psalm 127:3 says, “Children are a gift from the Lord; they are a reward from him.” The Parent & Child Dedication is a time for us to celebrate and thank God for the gift of our children. It’s also a time for you, as parents, to commit to model what following Jesus looks like and to raise your children to understand that they are saved by grace through faith in Jesus Christ, to believe that the Bible is absolute Truth, and to know the importance of committing to a community of faith through the local church.
Do I need to be a member of the church?
You do not need to be a member of Braeswood Church to dedicate your child. We do ask that families call Braeswood Church "home" because in dedicating your child to God, you are stating that you are willing to partner with God and the local church family to raise your child in cooperation with God’s intentions. As your church family, we are here to partner with you and to support you as a family unit.
What STEPS are needed to dedicate my child?
To dedicate your child, please:
1) ...review the information on this page.
2) ...register for the next available date by clicking HERE.
3) ...participate in an online Orientation (via Zoom), required for families who are dedicating children for the first time at our church.
Is Dedication the same as Baptism?
Dedication is a sacrament; nor does it impart grace or salvation to a child. Salvation comes only through faith in Jesus Christ as each person recognizes their sinfulness and receives forgiveness and eternal life through him and his work on the cross. The act of dedicating your children to the Lord involves parents formally calling upon God’s blessing for their child and publicly committing to raise him or her in accordance with Scripture.
Can a single parent participate in a child dedication service?
Yes! Child dedication signifies the commitment of parents, including single parents, to do your best to raise your child to be a follower of Jesus Christ. We encourage single parents to include any important figures in their child’s life to be a part of the dedication. As a church, we are committed to supporting single parents in providing a Christian foundation for their child’s upbringing.
Can a child be dedicated if the parents are not married, AND living together?
The simple answer: NO!
Here is why: child dedication is intended to reflect the teaching of Scripture regarding family life. Based on God's Word and what it says regarding the sacred honor of marriage, we believe that every public act of worship must conform to God's standards, and to fail to recognize and honor the specific teaching of Scripture on matters of family life would violate the integrity of our church and the Savior we serve.
For those who are unmarried or living together, taking steps to acknowledge and surrender to God’s plan for their individual lives takes precedence over participation in a baby dedication service. Our goal in ministry is to meet people where they are in life, to lead them to God’s grace and truth, and to help them discover life abundant in Christ and His church.
What should I expect for the Parent & Child Dedication?
The Parent & Child Dedication is a small, intimate service that lasts no longer than 30 minutes. During the ceremony, parent(s) commit to helping their child grow in their faith and to raise them in a home-centered on Jesus. Our Campus Pastor welcomes the child and parent(s), prays over each family, and presents a Bible to each child.
When is Parent & Child Dedication?
The Parent & Child Dedication is always on the THIRD Sunday of the first month in each "new" quarter (March, June, September, & December) at every campus. We encourage you to invite friends and family to attend so that they can join you in praying and celebrating this special time with you. Because of limited space and demand, please let us know how many friends and family are planning to attend. If you are interested in participating in baby dedication, please fill out this form.
